This privacy notice provides information about how we use and share personal data about users of the ReTrac Services. Note that by continuing the use of our service, you hereby give us consent to use that data according to our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

This section explains the purposes for which we use personal data about you.

Providing ReTrac services to you

We use your personal data to provide you with our services which include:

  • The items reporting service, which enables users to report stolen items/gadgets with unique identification details (UiDs).
  • The items tracking service, which enables users to track second hand (pawned) items to verify if they have been reported stolen or not.
  • The service can also be used to report and communicate lost but found items.

We also use your personal data to contact you with information regarding these services. For example, we may contact you through paper mail or electronically, to notify you on the status of a tracked or reported item.

Other services for the prevention and detection of items theft and other crime

We will use your personal data in other products and services which are designed to help prevent theft and other crime. We will also use your personal data to aid retrieval of items reported stolen on ReTrac.

  • As part of the services, information could be shared with police forces and other law enforcement agencies. In each case, the purpose for which the information is shared is in order to help prevent theft and other crime and aid retrieval of items reported stolen on ReTrac.

Relationship Management

We use personal data for relationship management purposes. Relationship management is the ongoing maintenance of our relationship with you. This could include but is not limited to activities such as letting you know about changes in how we offer ReTrac services, planned maintenance activity, providing you with technical support and dealing with your enquiries.

What Kinds of Personal Data We Use, and How We Get It

ReTrac obtains and uses your personal data as summarized below:

Name and contact details: This is basic personal data about you like name, address, gender, age, contact details and how you prefer to be contacted. This information is provided by users directly as you register for ReTrac services.

Other information you provide in connection with the services: This is information you provide us in connection to the services ReTrac provides to you. This includes the items' unique identification details (UiDs) such as IMEI, Series Number, Model number, Markers and any other information that may be required to identify a particular item. This information is provided by users directly as you use ReTrac services.

Transaction history: This is information about your use of the ReTrac services. It includes what particular service you use, how you use it, etc. ReTrac produces this data.

Contact history: This is information about our contact with you inclusive of your response to that contact. ReTrac produces this data.

Who We Share The Personal Data With

Other ReTrac customers: Our service is designed to help reunite users with stolen items and also be a register where the status of pawned (2nd hand) items could be verified. In order to do this, we may need to share information (including your identity and information about the items you have registered) with other users who need access to it for those purposes.

Law enforcement: As stated in the Terms and Conditions, ReTrac's role in retrieval of stolen gadgets is merely intermediary. To aid retrieval, we make your information (including your identity and information about the items you have registered) available to the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies where necessary for the purpose of its retrieval.

Where The Personal Data Is Stored and Sent

Data collected during the period of using the ReTrac services is stored in a MySQL database.

For How Long Is The Personal Data Kept

We will keep your personal data for as long as you are a registered user of any of the services of ReTrac. We may also keep it for an additional period of time when your account is closed where there is an ongoing investigation, or we feel it is in the best interest of security to keep it.

Your Rights in Respect to The Personal Data That We Hold About You

  • Access: You have the right to find out what Personal Data we hold about you and how we are using it.
  • Deletion: We rely on your permission to use your data, and you have the right to delete this data in whole or in part. This is however subject to Section 5 above.
  • Rectification of errors: You have the right to rectify the personal data you have with ReTrac.

ReTrac tries to ensure that the best levels of customer service are given to our users.
